What is Your Major Stress in Life?

What is your major stress in life? A few nights back, while queuing in a drive thru, my kids & I were talking about our personalities. We’re making fun of ourselves, and had a good laugh about it. On a serious side, I blurted out that I was a people pleaser. I wanted people to like me, and yes, it has been a major source of stress for me. It has been that way for me. I want to please my parents, siblings, teachers, classmates, bosses, co workers, hubby, kids, etc. I feel disappointment in myself, if I perceive that I don’t come up to their expectations. I feel ashamed of myself, if I deemed that I fail my children, whether imagined or not. These negative feeling does take a toll on my wellbeing. It took years learning this feeling of inadequacy, so it also took years to unlearn it. It is only through God’s mercy and love,  that I am able to accept myself, love myself. It is only through God’s unconditional love, that I am able to say, that  I  AM  ENOUGH.  I am a work in progress,

How to Give Yourself a Facial Massage At Home for Beginners?

"Because facials are more relaxing than flowers" - Author unknown

How would you like to be pampered for a day or even a couple of times a week without spending a big amount of money in the spa?

I would like to share with you how I do my facial massage right in the comfort of my home and enjoy the benefits of having a facial massage.

I am not a massage therapist or a skin care specialist. I just want to share with you how I do my facial massage which I've learned from various videos I watched over the internet.

I do my facial massage by using my knuckles instead of my fingertips. By using one's knuckles to do your face massage, these apply more pressure to the face thus it promotes more blood circulation and lymphatic flow. A deeper stimulation of the facial tissues enhances the production of collagen.

Lymph (from Latin, lympha meaning "water") is the fluid that flows through the lymphatic system, a system composed of lymph vessels (channels) and intervening lymph nodes whose function, like the venous system, is to return fluid from the tissues to the central circulation. -as defined by Wikipedia

What are the benefits of a facial massage?

-  boost blood circulation
-  promotes collagen production
-  strengthen facial muscles
-  for detoxification

When doing a facial massage it is best to use facial oils so that your knuckles will glide smoothly all over your face. You can use any kind of facial oil. The benefits we get from the facial massage is not from the oil but from the massage movements itself.

Let us begin:

1.  Always start off with a cleansed face. After cleansing your face do not use any makeup or face creams.

2. Pour a generous amount of oil on your palm and knead it along with your hands and knuckles.

3. With your knuckles, start massaging the lymphatic tissues along your neck. Massaging this area will relax the muscles on your neck and promote blood circulation. Continue massaging until you feel that the neck muscles are relaxed.

4. Go to your forehead. Glide your knuckles, between your eyebrows up to the tip of your hairline. Do this in 30 counts. This will relieve the tension on this part of our forehead. Oftentimes, we develop a deep wrinkle between our eyebrows from frowning too much!

5.  From the center of your forehead, glide your knuckles up to your temples. Do this in 30 counts. Sometimes, I do 15 counts of gliding my knuckles at the same time: from center to right and center to left. The remaining 15 counts, I do it alternately: first, from the center of forehead to left part of the temple and then from the center of forehead to right part of the temple.

6.  From the Z-line, that is from the tip of the nose up to the upper part of the brows to the temple, glide your knuckles. Do this in 30 counts. 15 on one side then another 15 counts on the left side.

7.  Massage around your eyes. With a rolling motion of your knuckles massage just below the eyes up to your temple. Put some pressure but not to the point that it is painful. This will relieve the tenseness on this part of our face.

8.  You can add face oil if you want to so that the massage movement will glide smoothly along your face. From your jaws, glide your knuckles to your cheeks up to your temples. Do this in 30 counts.

9.  Just below your jaws, massage towards the lower part of your ears. Do this in 30 counts.

10. We will now do a behind the ears detoxification. Glide your knuckles from your frontal side of the ears then behind it down to your neck. Do this in 15 counts. You can do 5 counts, left ear and right ear at the same time, then another 5 counts, left side only and the last 5 counts, right side only.
