About Myself

Hi! My name is Mel and this is my blog. I am a 50 something wife and mother to four grown-up kids. I am currently working as a Cost Accountant in a manufacturing industry. Read on to learn more about me and why this blog is a testament that midlife is beautiful.

Midlife is the age between 45 to 65 years of age, the stage between early adulthood and old age. Does it mean that if we fall between these ages we are “old” or does the adage “age is just a number” is indeed a fact? We can’t stop the years rolling by but like many other women, I would like to grow old gracefully. By gracefully, I mean to be able to continue to work, enjoy life by being able to travel on short vacations, watch movies, dine, enjoy good food with my family. I want to take care of myself, my health, how I look, the way I dress.

This blog is about inspiring & empowering women in the midlife bracket, seeing that there are few blogs catering to these demographics, I mustered enough courage to put up a blog where midlife women can connect and relate with each other as they go through their midlife phase.

Middle life is Beautiful is an avenue for midlife women to bond over their midlife experiences in their family, relationships, health, beauty, fashion & travels.

From here on, I would be sharing posts about the midlife journey, my travels, about health, beauty & fashion for women the same boat as I am but maybe the younger sets can enjoy reading them as well.

I hope you continue to follow me as I embark on my midlife journey.

Welcome to my blog!

Singapore:Day 2 Kampong Glam, Sentosa, Universal Studios Singapore

I was supposed to start the 2nd part of my Singapore trip last night but because of a lot of work at the office (making up for the days I was away from work), I was so tired when I arrived home. I'm missing Singapore already so I'd better start my blog right now!

Anyway, day 2 started earlier today. While Charmi was still sleeping, I sneaked out of bed and took a bath. The bathrooms at Meadows Hostel where we stayed were very clean but you have to bring along your own toiletries because they are not provided. No need to bring towels, they will provide it, and before I forget when we checked in, the receptionist gave us 2 free adapters. By the way, I booked our hostel via Booking.com. No credit card  or prepayment was required, I paid in cash at the hostel.
Before taking a bath, I took my breakfast and I have the pantry by myself. The pantry has an overview of the sky rise buildings in Singapore and I was enjoying the sprinkling of rain. It was a beautiful morning, no hurries,…

Product Review: Maxi Peel Zero

Nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it is up to you to merit the face you have at fifty. - Coco Chanel There are so many ads shown in media about skin care products for pimple & acne removal and at the same time for smoothening and lightening of facial skin. Usually these are skin care products that exfoliates the skin to remove the skin impurities brought by exposure to nature, pollution and even the cosmetics you apply on your face. Exfoliating the skin would mean darkening of the skin first, then peeling, last is the reddening of the skin.

I have tried facial exfoliant before but after a few days of using it  I have to stop using it completely because, it was so painful. My face felt raw, even the touch of the wind or water on my face was so painful. I have to cover my face with my hanky because even a whiff of wind hurts my face. My face became reddish, it looks I've been extremely sun burned.

I received sample products from SampleRoom and one of the items  I ord…

How can Midlife Women Live Longer?

How long do you want to live? 80, 90, 100? But the real question is," how can we live longer?". To live longer entails keeping our bodies in good health, in good shape, nurturing our spiritual growth, and caring for our family. According to data, a woman turning 65 today can expect to live on average until 86.6 years of age. I stumbled upon on internet a life expectancy calculator, this calculator computes the additional life expectancy of a person. This is how it works: I input my date of birth then it calculated that I will have an additional life expectancy of 33.6 years! Wow!

The truth is there are several factors that contribute to the increase or decrease in life expectancy. These are:

1.  Current health- are you in good health? suffering from an ailment?
2.  Lifestyle - are you a smoker? drinks excessively? does not exercise? parties too much?
3.  Family history - is there a member of your family who has cancer, diabetes, hypertension?

Smoking, drinking too much alcoho…
