How to Stay Motivated in Midlife?

Do you often get the feeling that life is passing you by? Do you feel a sense of being short-changed in life? Don't feel down, you are not alone in experiencing these downside emotions. When we reach the golden year, many women are in a quandary what to expect in the coming years. At this stage, you may still have children in school, children in the workforce may be in the stage of marriage breakdown, in a happy relationship with your spouse or partner, with work or suddenly without work. Whatever situation you are in at this midlife stage, know that you are not alone in your journey.

These negative emotions you are feeling should not thrive on in your life. You have to conquer this negativity in your life or else it will consume you and lead to despair. Don't let it happen to you, you are in control of your life and if you want to be happy and positive, you have to push yourself out of the doldrums you are in. "Life is what you make it" is an old cliche but it holds…

How to Reinvent Yourself at Midlife?

Have you looked at yourself lately in the mirror? Oh, not the hurried to peek in the mirror to comb one's hair, apply a tint of lipstick or the hurried dabbing of face powder. The "look in the mirror", I'm talking about is the one that sees right through one's self. The "look in the mirror" which leads us to ask our midlife self, "where to now?", "what's in store for me, now that I have spent a half-century in this world?".

Fifty years have gone by, what do you want to do for the next 50 years (God willing we live to a 100). Have you thought about that? Or are you content to continue what is keeping you busy nowadays? REINVENT. Yes, you have to reinvent yourself. Merriam Webster defines reinvent as to remake or redo completely. Cambridge English Dictionary defines reinvent to produce something new that is based on something that already exists. I prefer the latter definition of reinvent. It applies fairly well with how you will r…

How can Midlife Women Live Longer?

How long do you want to live? 80, 90, 100? But the real question is," how can we live longer?". To live longer entails keeping our bodies in good health, in good shape, nurturing our spiritual growth, and caring for our family. According to data, a woman turning 65 today can expect to live on average until 86.6 years of age. I stumbled upon on internet a life expectancy calculator, this calculator computes the additional life expectancy of a person. This is how it works: I input my date of birth then it calculated that I will have an additional life expectancy of 33.6 years! Wow!

The truth is there are several factors that contribute to the increase or decrease in life expectancy. These are:

1.  Current health- are you in good health? suffering from an ailment?
2.  Lifestyle - are you a smoker? drinks excessively? does not exercise? parties too much?
3.  Family history - is there a member of your family who has cancer, diabetes, hypertension?

Smoking, drinking too much alcoho…

How to cope up with an empty nest?

Today, we drove my youngest daughter, Love, to her new home. It is 14.8 km away from our residence, quite a fair distance. As we were driving, I was asking myself, "did I really allow my daughter to live away from home (even if it is an educational requirement to comply with, prior to graduation in college)? I was telling myself, she has a hard time because, after her duties, she has to do her laundry, iron her clothes and prepare her own food. Days prior to this date, her Dad & I were trying to dissuade her from completing her "on the job training" in a far location from home but she was adamant with her decision to go through with her plans. She tells us that she and five other girlfriends are staying together and that they are scouting for a place near their place of work to stay. I know it was a sound decision on her part because academically, she would benefit from the training in the hospital and second, it is practical to rent a place near their work rather …

Korean Mask Sheet:I'M Plankton Mask Sheet (by Cathy Doll)

The Korean mania is on! People just love everything Korean, from their k dramas, food, glass glowing skin, makeup, and clothes. I have heard there are long lines at the Korean embassy because many Filipinos are getting visas to be able to visit the "land of morning calm". Dae-bak (or super cool or awesome) as Koreans would say!
But for now, I'm binging on k dramas, watching till I drop and getting hook on their skin care products. The problem is, Korean skin care products are really expensive and me being the cheapskate, is rounding up stores looking for cheap but effective Korean skincare items. So in one of my jaunts, I saw this face mask at Watsons and I think it is a great find! I'm excited to share it with you especially my midlife women-sisters.
My special find is the I'M Plankton Mask Sheet by Cathy Doll. The I'M Plankton Mask Sheet "provides intense nourishment to the skin that is effective in skin regeneration with the use of plankton extract. T…

Want a long and exciting road trip? Let's head to the place of white sand beaches, crystal clear blue waters and historical Spanish era.. Ilocos

The months of March to May are summer months in the Philippines. It is the time of the year to enjoy the summer heat, frolicking in the beach basking under the heat of the sun. And what better way to enjoy it, is to roll through the long and exciting adventure to the province of Ilocos. We will traversed two of its provinces, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur. These provinces are where the popular historical places and white sand beaches with clear blue waters can be found. I'm talking about Vigan, Laoag and Pagudpud.

These places covers a long distance coming from NLEX. If one will traversed these roads via NLEX, SCTEX & TPLEX, from Marilao, Bulacan to Pagudpud, it will take 10-11 hours riding a private vehicle.

Off we go to Ilocos! We left the house at eleven in the evening, the kids are excited, I'm excited, because finally after pulling in long hours at work, I'm going on a vacation! The drive was smooth, our first stop over was at Petron Lakeshore, hubby told my kids an…

Korean Skin Whitening Product for Php 13.00 only

Anyong haseyo (pronounced Ahn-yo-ha-say-yoh)! Korean beauty is the mania these days, everyone is all agog with the perfect, glowing, white skin of the oppas and unnies. While browsing over the internet, I came across this product Seoul White Korea, I looked it up and learned it is sold at Watsons. After enjoying the sweltering heat of summer in the beaches, my natural morena skin became darker and duller. I'm not after achieving a fair complexion like the Koreans, what I want is to bring back the color of my skin to its natural glory in the shortest time. So, my midlife women- sisters, let us try these beauty products and see if we can incorporate it into our daily skincare routine.

I visited a Watsons store near our house and went directly to the skin care racks but no Seoul White Korea in sight, so I walked over at the other side of the store and there I saw my Seoul White Korea! There were Seoul White Korea Soap and Seoul White Korea cream in tube and sachet. I took down the ba…
