My Hermione Bag

What women don't forget to bring when they go out is a bag. We need a bag to hold the stuff we need, like a wallet or coin purse, a compact & a lipstick, a pack of tissue & we're good to go. Generally, there are two types of bag women use: 1. a small hand bag, enough to carry our basic essentials. 2. a large bag, big enough to hold all our staff.

The bag I bring is the second one, I can't do without a big bag. Not only is it big, but heavy as well, that it encumbers my movements. If I am walking between aisles, say in a drug store, I have to walk sideways so as not to bump the items on the racks. If I'm in a jeepney ( a public transport) I have to sit it in my lap sideways too, or else it will get in the way of the passenger besides me.While walking, it will slow me down, because it's heavy.

What in heaven's sake  is inside your bag that it is too heavy to tote around (you may ask)? My bag is a Hermione bag. "A what?" A Hermione bag. "Is that a branded bag?" My son coined that word for my kind of bag. One time I asked him to get my medicines inside my bag, as he was rummaging through it, he asked where I kept it and I said in my hello kitty purse. As he was digging inside my bag, he took out my bulging cream pouch, my folding umbrella, my nail kit, my sewing kit, my floss kit, my very full make up bag, my eyeglass case, my roll of tissue, a plastic pouch stuffed with underwear! Mommy, did you bring the whole house with you inside your bag(my son queried)? Your bag is too deep and there's still a lot of stuff in here, my son uttered in surprise. Mommy, your bag is a Hermione bag. I got what he meant because Hermione is the Hermione Jean Granger of Harry Potter the movie. She has this small purple beaded bag, inside which, holds many possessions and it if you give it a shake it sounds like it contains many heavy objects. "So that's a Hermione bag!"

My very own Hermione bag
I know a lot of you women out there has a Hermione bag like mine! We can't  go out of the house without toting a bag crammed with all the stuff we need. The pharmacy is in there, the dressmaker shop is in there, the salon is in there, the candy store is in there. What else did I miss? Well, we Mommies are like that, we are like girl scouts, ready for all kinds of emergencies. Mommies are dependable and ready for all sorts of malfunctions. A word of caution though, the maximum weight a shoulder bag should be is 10% of your body weight. A heavy bag is the cause of shoulder and neck pains so go easy on your Hermione bag!

Middle life is beautiful!

Till next time, God bless!

Product Review: Maxi Peel Zero

Nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it is up to you to merit the face you have at fifty. - Coco Chanel There are so many ads shown in media about skin care products for pimple & acne removal and at the same time for smoothening and lightening of facial skin. Usually these are skin care products that exfoliates the skin to remove the skin impurities brought by exposure to nature, pollution and even the cosmetics you apply on your face. Exfoliating the skin would mean darkening of the skin first, then peeling, last is the reddening of the skin.

I have tried facial exfoliant before but after a few days of using it  I have to stop using it completely because, it was so painful. My face felt raw, even the touch of the wind or water on my face was so painful. I have to cover my face with my hanky because even a whiff of wind hurts my face. My face became reddish, it looks I've been extremely sun burned.

I received sample products from SampleRoom and one of the items  I ord…

Singapore:Day 2 Kampong Glam, Sentosa, Universal Studios Singapore

I was supposed to start the 2nd part of my Singapore trip last night but because of a lot of work at the office (making up for the days I was away from work), I was so tired when I arrived home. I'm missing Singapore already so I'd better start my blog right now!

Anyway, day 2 started earlier today. While Charmi was still sleeping, I sneaked out of bed and took a bath. The bathrooms at Meadows Hostel where we stayed were very clean but you have to bring along your own toiletries because they are not provided. No need to bring towels, they will provide it, and before I forget when we checked in, the receptionist gave us 2 free adapters. By the way, I booked our hostel via Booking.com. No credit card  or prepayment was required, I paid in cash at the hostel.
Before taking a bath, I took my breakfast and I have the pantry by myself. The pantry has an overview of the sky rise buildings in Singapore and I was enjoying the sprinkling of rain. It was a beautiful morning, no hurries,…

My Muse

A few days from now, I'll be 52. For a while, I stopped on my track and the thought occurred to me "what next?". It is a loaded question because, in retrospect, it doesn't only imply, what's next to write after the line "I'll be 52" but therein lies broader sentiments which are: what to do next at 52, what is stored for me at 52, have I lived my life the best that I can at 52, am I contented at 52, am I okay at 52, am I happy at 52, am I the ME I want to be at 52.

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about reinventing oneself at midlife. That article shot straight to my heart because I am in the stage of wanting to reinvent myself now I'm in my midlife. Quietly, small thoughts about wanting to do something other than my work creep into my mind. There is this nagging feeling to do something different that would set a different tone in my monotonous life.

I felt incomplete.
I asked myself, "is that bad?", "am I ungrateful for wanting mor…
